Volunteer with GREFOS

The Green Foundation volunteer service (GREFOS) offers a unique opportunities in Zanzibar  Tanzania for those who wish not only to travel, but to journey. Zanzibar , an Archipelago in the Indian Ocean 25 miles from mainland Tanzania, is known world-wide For tis equatorial beauty, beaches , and cultural diversity . Its ancient city, stone Town, is a UNESCO world Heritage site and host to tourists from around the world.

There are approximately 1.3 million people who reside on the Zanzibar Island. With the official language being Swahili.

In 2012, Saida Saleh founded GREFOS following a community-based volunteer project in Arusha, Tanzania in which she took part. Inspired by this project, Saida found herself asking why she shouldn’t undertake similar community-driven projects in rural areas of her own community, Zanzibar. Together with her sister, Lady J, Saida seized the opportunity to start the Green Foundation Volunteer Service (GREFOS), which is based in Seattle, Washington USA and Bububu, Zanzibar.
